1.
I went astray from the straightened road, and found myself alone. I wandered away from the truth. So naive, so hazed. Death couldn't be more bitter than this place, than this hell. There's got to be some hope, some light in the valley. Some way through the wood... I had one chance to escape my pain, but others kept me chained. Such hollow eyes and ruined souls. The midnight's all the same.
2.
Like winter has my absence been from you, the pleasure of the fleeting year. What freezings I have felt, what dark days seen! And old December's bareness every where! If there is song, it's with so dull a cheer that leaves look pale, dreading winter's near. And yet this time removed was summer's time, the teeming autumn, with rich increase, bearing the wanton burden of the prime, like widow'd wombs after their lords' decease... And yet this abundant issue seem'd to me but hope of orphans and unfather'd fruit; for summer and his pleasures wait on me, and you away, the birds are mute, or if there is song, it's with so dull a cheer, dreading winter's near.
3.
How should I your true love know, from one another? By his pilgrim hat and staff, his footsteps shown. And now with flowers that did not go, to the grave beweeping with showers. He is dead and gone, dear friend, he is dead and gone; grass above his head, his feet by stone. Let's have no word of this; but when they ask you say: tomorrow is another day, all in morning betime. Lord, we know what we are, but not what is to come. God be at your table! God be by your side. I hope all will be well. We must have patience: but I can't help but weep, to think him in the ground. His shroud as white as snow; enter adorned with flowers. His shroud as white as snow; enter, enter.
4.
Our Forever 03:21
You glance away. Is our situation so dark my eyes bring you pain? Thoughts absent of this glass prison run through our minds. Have you thought that maybe the time has come to say goodbye? Sharp silence tears what's already torn. Better severed than together. Silver linings faded with the sun. Time to meet our forever. There's nothing left to say. In this humid stillness, we're tied up with today. And through this mute conversation, we've agreed there won't be much to miss. And have you thought that maybe there's a better way to exist? Sharp silence tears what's already torn. Better severed than together. Silver linings fading with the sun. Time to meet our forever. You acknowledge the truth with a sigh. The time has come to say goodbye to our forever.
5.
Sixth 04:37
Do you hear me whisper when you're kissing her? Do you hear me say your name? Is the guilt as painful as everyone makes it out to be? Can you sleep at night, knowing that I can? Were you wondering if I'd suspect anything? Intuition leads to light with one kiss. Were you wondering if I would say anything? Silence is murder to the soul. I hope I haunt your dreams, an unwanted angel of night. A constant reminder of alabaster. And I hope you know, I'm just fine without you. Surviving, and living, and breathing. I never loved you half as much as I loathe you now. I never think about our good times. What I'm missing is more than what you have. I'll never cry on the sixth.
6.
Instrumental. Written in loving memory of Jimmy E. Cottrell III. (1986-2006).
7.
Beneath the midnight sky, you prepare to rush away. Across the deep, among the northern winds, you so cold and quiet. Did you ever hope to hide so harsh a crime? To leave these arms of mine without saying goodbye? My words are ended now... Can nothing hold you back? Not my love, nor the end that lies ahead? Do you flee me? Do you fear me? Is my touch too much to take? I pray, I pray. Is there still a place for prayer? I pray, but is there still a place for prayer?

about

With styles varying from renaissance to rock, this acoustic guitar and piano-saturated music is composed mostly by Matt LeFevers, a musical mastermind, producer extraordinaire and lover of books. Jackie Roche, a classically trained singer and fellow literary enthusiast executes the vocals, in addition to co-producing many of the songs.

Combining their musical talents and adoration of the written word, Your Forgotten Love creates a unique sound of music topped off with lyrics extracted (mostly) from books, plays and poetry.

about

Your Forgotten Love Phoenix, Arizona

Your Forgotten Love was born out of a fusion of literature and music. In 2003, a college Shakespeare assignment led vocalist Jackie Roche to recruit instrumental jack-of-all-trades Matt LeFevers for a musical adaptation of the bard's 97th sonnet. The resulting song, a sweeping piano ballad dubbed "Winter's Near", went far beyond anyone's expectations, and ignited Your Forgotten Love. ... more
